ALBERTA’S FIRST APPROVED “USE OF FORCE” TRAINING PROGRAM

FOR PEACE OFFICERS, SHERIFFS & SECURITY PROFESSIONALS,

ACCREDITED BY ALBERTA JUSTICE & SOLICITOR GENERAL…

THE CANADIAN ALTERNATIVE TO PPCT!

THE MISSION

To provide peace officers and security personnel with reality based verbal and physical control tactics that work as well on the street as they do in the classroom.

Control Tactics and Survival Skills (CTSS) Canada offers two broad classes of instruction:

• Verbal control tactics

• Physical control tactics

The purpose of these programs is to ensure that officer skills comply with the accepted Use of Force model and provide street-usable techniques that allow the officer to perform in such a manner that the officers, subjects, and bystanders safety is maintained.

Security agencies recognize that Control Tactics training is a perishable skill, and thus requires ongoing training.

THE TRAINING

CTSS Training is certified by the Alberta Solicitor General. CTSS Training is required for any security personnel to carry handcuffs and a baton.

The following tables compare the verbal control (Strategic De-escalation) and physical control (CTSS) courses with other available courses.
