To all the Students and Staff at ESSMY (École Secondaire Sainte Marguerite d’Youville) in St. Albert, Alberta who were taught by and positively influenced / impacted by “THIBS”… Mr. Rock Thibodeau.
I share in your heartbreak and sadness in losing ROCK. I shared an intimate / private invite only Celebration of Life with his Family on Saturday, June 30, 2018. I will proudly be joining you all on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 for the Candlelight Vigil at 9 p.m. at Kingwood Park in St. Albert. What an excellent idea from whomever organized this very special evening.
You may not know this… ROCK and his son, Philippe were my Students over 20 years ago at Precision Martial Arts Academy (PMAA). He was one of my first Taekwondo Students to be promoted and earn the prestigious rank of 1st Dan Black Belt and became one of my valued and adored Instructors. Rock also started teaching semi-private Taekwondo lessons at ESSMY early in the mornings with any student who wanted to learn. He was ambitious, passionate, focused, intensely driven and committed to every action, every goal and every student he taught. Not only did I gain a monumental figure at our Taekwondo School, I gained a long lasting friendship that will forever be cherished and respected. Instead of testing for his 2nd Dan Black Belt, ROCK made the choice to challenge himself by pursuing his Body Building Career.
In October 2017, I visited him at ESSMY to share that we were moving to St. Albert, near Servus Place. He blessed me with having the opportunity to have some of you (ESSMY classes / students) come visit our Academy for a couple of awesome Fun Field Trips this past Spring. It was an absolute pleasure sharing that time with you.
PLEASE…. I invite all ESSMY Staff, Students and their Families to utilize Precision Martial Arts Academy (PMAA) located at 105, 15 Circle Drive (close to your school) for the entire Summer as a safe place to meet, greet, cry, hang out to chat, laugh, reminisce and train for FREE to de-stress and workout your mind-body-spirit. Share in the experience of one of THIBS passions… fitness through Taekwondo and Martial Arts Training. Stop by to ask me questions about Rock, look through endless pictures I have of him and I’d love to hear YOUR stories and memories of this amazing human being.
I will miss my dear friend and I KNOW how much he loved his students. I feel compelled to simply be there for you and I know he’d appreciate this to keep you all close and together during this time. His lunch hour room that many of you valued may never be the same, perhaps I can lend that ear, friendship and support. I hope to have the honor of meeting some of you this Summer and keep the memory and mission of THIBS very much alive!
